Some Vocabulary for High School Graduates

Again we will most likely not talk about hosting or the Internet once in this post. Rather we will be updating you on the annual "100 words every high school graduate should know." This list is made by the editors of the American Heritage dictionaries and to be honest, I don't think I know the definitions of each of these words off the top of my head. Furthermore I don't even think I could spell all of these words. But that is fine because I'm sure many other people around the world don't know more than half of these words and it does not seem as though these words are used in normal human conversations. These are just words that the editors suggest should be known. But in reality we all know that most of these are unknown.

Internet Explorer vs. FireFox

We have discussed the differences between computers running on a Windows platform compared to computers using a Mac operating system and their impact on your web site. We made it clear that the type of computer you use does not impact your web site, but does the Internet browser you use play any role?
The answer to this question is also no. As long as you are on the Internet the browser you use make no difference. Most people in the world currently use Microsoft's Internet Explorer as their browser - the main reason for this is because most Windows PC's already have Internet Explorer pre-installed so naturally people use Internet Explorer more than any other browser. Although, we are beginning to see that Internet Explorer is continuously losing market share to Mozilla's Firefox Internet browser. According to W3Counter, 66.36% of computer currently use the Internet Explorer browser to surf the net. This is compared to 25.48% of the Internet that uses Firefox and this quite an astonishing percentage when you consider that Firefox is generally not pre-installed on computers, rather people have to manually go on the Firefox web site and download the browser software. Month after month Firefox continue to gain market share while Internet Explorer loses users, we won't go into the details of why that is but one thing we do know is that both browsers are totally fine to use when you are creating and maintaining your web site which is hosted by iPowerWeb.

First 30 Days

Previously we explained that every iPowerWeb hosting account comes with an unconditional 30 day money back guarantee and this is still true. Just like our hosting prices our terms do not change either. If for some reason you wish to receive a refund for your the hosting account you paid for you may do so within the first 30 days. So another common question that comes into our Customer Support Department is "When do the first 30 days start?". This is a very good question because your hosting account does not necessarily start once you click the purchase button on our web site. Instead we must wait until your payment has been approved or cleared in order to setup you account. This is why we say that the first 30 days for any account with iPowerWeb begins on the day the account has been set to our approved status. If you are wondering when this day is, you will receive an account setup email immediately following the setup of your account. This means that from the day your account has been approved you will have 30 days to request for a full refund. Hopefully this trial period is sufficient in order for you to understand whether or not we are right for you. If you wish to cancel following the first 30 days you may do so with no penalty. We try to make the entire hosting process as easy for you as possible.

Currency

This entry should be filled in the common customer support questions section. We are regularly asked this question and you would be amazed at the frequency of this question. This is not generally asked by our users located in the United States but it is still quite common. Ok here's question - "What currency are iPowerWeb's prices in?"
Being that we operate out of the United States one would think the answer is in USD (United States Dollars) and that is correct. Every product and service listed on our web site is priced in United States Dollars. Although just because the prices are listed in United States Dollars this does not mean that you are not able to purchase our products and services outside of the country. Rather iPowerWeb hosting can be purchased from anywhere in the world either over the phone at 888-511-HOST or through our web site www.iPowerWeb.com.

Service Term with iPowerWeb

Many consumers do not like contracts due to one general reason, we want our options open and never want to feel bound to something. This is particularly true when it comes to cellular phones, who wants to spend an extra $200 or so for just switching companies. Does this apply for web hosting as well? Are iPowerWeb customers locked into a contract?? This surely does not go for any product or service with iPowerWeb, meaning that if for whatever reason you wish to cancel or transfer, you are able to do so. We are not going to hold you hostage or expect you to pay any outrageous cancellation cost, rather if you still have time on your account we will issue a refund or transfer the time to another one of your web hosting accounts with iPowerWeb. Therefore when you are an iPowerWeb user you will never have to feel restricted or uncomfortable, hopefully you will never need to cancel or transfer your account but you would be surprised at the unethical practices of some hosting companies. Again as always we will not use any specific names of hosts but it is well known within the web hosting business that there are providers out there that make it as difficult as possible for their customers to leave, and even in some cases the hosting company will play the roll of cellular phone company and charge the user a cancellation fee. At iPowerWeb we really feel that we are different.

You may change your hosting service term at anytime without paying any extra fees. All you have to do is simply pay the difference or receive a refund, depending upon whether you want to extend or shorten your service term. To arrange for these modifications, please contact our Billing Department at Billing@iPowerWeb.com with your request. For security verification, please include the last four digits of your credit card on file.

Can You Resell Your Hosting Space

When visiting the iPowerWeb site you are probably overwhelmed by the amount of space and features included with our basic BusinessPro Package. So lets say you purchase our BusinessPro plan and realize that you have been given far too much space for your web site and don't know what to do with unused space, so you begin to ask yourself - can I resell the extra space. Unfortunately the answer is NO. But the good news is that we offer a Reseller Program which enables you to purchase our hosting services at a discounted rate and play the role of web host. This means that you could truly own your own web hosting company at a very affordable rate and your risks are truly limited. You do not pay a monthly fee or have to put money up front, our Reseller Program is free to join and it allows to pay for each account when you are ready to set it up. Meaning that each time you gain a new customer you will pay for the hosting and if for some reason your customer cancels you can receive a pro-rated refund. Back to the point if you have any additional web space on your hosting account, you cannot resell your space to someone. And why would you want to do so? iPowerWeb plans are so affordable and each Business Pro Plan enables you to host up to 6 domain names on each account. This means that you could have six separate web sites on your one hosting account.

Domain Name Extensions

The Internet continues to grow rapidly and more people are registering new domain names while less people are giving up their existing domain names, which means we will run out of available domain names right?
Well not really, we may run out of desirable .com domain names but that would take quite some time. At iPowerWeb we understand that the .com domain name you are interested in may not be available that is why we register domain name extensions other than .com such as; .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, .co.uk, and .co.uk. Hopefully these extensions are sufficient, if not please call our Sales Department for more information at 888-511-HOST. Even though our web site may not give you the ability to register every single domain name extension out there, please understand that we do host all domain name extensions. So if you have a domain name registered with an Italian registrar you could still host your domain name on iPowerWeb servers. So your domain name does not have to be registered with iPowerWeb in order to be hosted with us. Although people find it easier to have their domain name registration all with us you are more than welcome to register your domain name with another company and host your web site with us or vice versa.

Payment For Hosting Services

A common question that we regularly get is, "What payment methods do you accept?"
Being an Internet company with a web site, we obviously accept credit card payments. Hopefully every other hosting company does this as well and if you know a hosting provider who does not accept credit cards...I'm not sure if it's a good idea to host your site with them. So it is clear that we accept payment via credit card for our services although not too many people know that we also accept payment via check by phone. This means that you could pay for your hosting services via check!! This is ideal for people who do not like using credit cards or just love to use checks.

Here is a quick list of the payment methods accepted by iPowerWeb:
Visa
MasterCard
AmericanExpress
Discover
Debit Cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo
Wire Transfer
Money Order
and of course Check By Phone

It would probably be best if you did pay via credit card due to the fact that accounts paid by check, money order, or wire transfer are not setup immediately. Rather you must wait until your payment is received and cleared before we can setup your new account. Another reason why we recommend payment via credit card is because when renewal time comes for your account, we could renew your services via the credit card we have on file - making the entire process much easier for you. Whereas if you were to pay via check, wire transfer, money order you will need to submit payment once again and you must make sure we receive it before your account expires in order to make sure your service is not interrupted.

Building a Habit to Exercise

We will probably not bring up the word hosting once during this entire post. We will provide you with some tips on how to get in the habit of regularly exercising. All of us have, or know someone who has tried to motivate themselves in order to exercise but after a few days they just give up. You should not worry about this because many other people face the same issue and it is very difficult to build and maintain the habit of exercising. Discipline and will power only work in the short term when you are looking to get in shape, it takes a lot in order to maintain the habit to exercise. One way to look at the entire process is that if other people could do it, you could do it as well - this mentality could be applied to many other aspects of life.

1. Set your Goal. What do you want to achieve?

* Bigger muscles?
* Less fat?
* More strength?
* More speed?

2. Set a Deadline. Set a date by which you will reach your goal. Write your goal and deadline on a piece of paper and put it somewhere you can see it multiple times a day.

3. Make a Plan. Once you have set your goal, you must back it up with a plan.

* Which exercises will you perform?
* How many sets and reps will you do?
* How many times a week will you go the gym?

4. Exercise First Thing in the Morning. When you’ve just had a tough day at work, it can be hard to train for another hour at the gym. A solution is to exercise first thing in the morning:

* Wake up early
* Eat breakfast
* Prepare the stuff you need for work
* Go to the gym

5. Stick to your Plan. This is something I experienced on numerous occasions. The days you don’t feel like exercising, are often your best days. Maybe it’s the mind-body connection: the body says no, but the mind says go. Thus the body eventually says go too. I don’t know.

6. Train With Someone Who Has The Exercise Habit. If you’re training partner quits, you’ll probably end up quitting too. But if your training partner hangs on, you’ll take it as a challenge.

7. Be confident. You can achieve whatever you want, if you believe that you can do it. Having a clear goal and a plan will already arm you with self-confidence.

Google Web Hosting

Almost every person who uses the Internet has heard of (and most likely uses) Google. Google is an Internet company that has changed the search engine industry forever. One could even argue that Google has even changed the Internet forever. Starting off as a search engine, Google has branched off to offer many other products and services such as the following:
Orkut - A social networking site.
Google Video - A web based video site...Google also owns YouTube, a highly popular video site.
And quite frankly this list could go on forever. It seems as though Google is always launching a new site and/or service. Anyway back to the point, will Google come into web hosting. If you are acquainted with the web hosting industry you have probably heard the discussion before, will Google offer hosting services. Considering the strength of Google across the Internet it may seem like a logical and realistic move. At the moment Google does not offer any hosting services like iPowerWeb does and to be quite honest it may seem like a stretch for Google to enter an industry where they would have to offer such complex services. If you own a web site you know how tough it is to control a web server (or at least heard). It would seem that web hosting services would be an industry not right for Google's operations especially when you consider the company's mentality. To simplify everything, Google does not offer web hosting services such as shared hosting and dedicated servers and no one really knows if they will offer web hosting other than Google.
