Ultimate
Bulletin Board
Our Webmaster's Forum
is run using the Ultimate Bulletin Board system.
The script offers a lot of features and with
each update, more features are added. Here are just a few
of the many features that I particularly like:
- Unlimited Forums
- Integrated Search Engine
- Email notification of replies to topics
- Option to email passwords to newly registered users
(this ensures users will have valid email addresses)
- Private Forums
- Email Ban Lists
- Anonymous Posting Options
- UBBFriend Feature: Email a Topic to Someone
- Forum moderators (who can edit/delete any post in a
forum they moderate)
- Ability to edit/delete/prune messages
The update threads feature is excellent. If you site changes
over time, like most do, you simply modify the header and
footer code and all your pages will be updated to the new
look, with one click of the mouse. Simply brilliant!
The installation can take a bit of time, as
there are quite a few variables to set. But there is a lot
of documentation and their technical support forum is probably
the best I have ever seen. There are literally thousands of
questions and answers, so you'll probably find your answer
somewhere in the forum message board.
The only fault that I and most other users
have found is that there isn't a feature to merge the forums.
But I understand that the new version (5.40) will include
this feature.
You can either purchase a license for $170,
or lease a license for $82 a year. Personally I think it's
the best low-cost forum script available on the net, especially
when you consider the price, support and the new features
added to it almost every month.
