Dreamweaver
has the ability to stylize text quickly without having to resort to CSS (Cascading
Style Sheets). As you probably know CSS will only function in 4.0 and above browsers.
'HTML Styles' is one way of applying specific font styling that will function
across all browsers. I will demonstrate how to use 'HTML Styles' with the sample
text below.
Gaius Julius Caesar
(100
- 44 B.C.)
The most famous Roman general and statesman, conqueror
of Gaul who brought about the end of the Republic. In 49 B.C. Caesar marched against
the Senate and defeated his rival Pompey at the battle of Pharsalus. As dictator
of Rome, he launched a series of political and social reforms before he was assasinated
on the Ides of March.
My goal will be to
create a unique font style for the Emperor's name, his reign of power, and the
simple bio. Although CSS is the preferred method for accomplishing this there
are still millions of browsers out there that still don't support CSS. Using 'HTML
Styles' can be your bridge to older browsers.
Step
1
First bring up the 'HTML Styles' palette (Ctrl-F7). A
number of default styles are already listed.
