Convert Bitmaps to Vector Art in a Flash

In Example 2 I played with the Color Threshold parameter, testing 50 and 20. As you can see the detail kicks up many times. The problem is file size. Using a setting of '50' results in a 30kb file. Using '25' results in a 57kb file. The original .jpg file was only 18kb.

Example 2: Threshold 50

Example 3: Threshold 25

Finding the optimum result in this process is less a science than an art. If your desire is to create a vector graphic that looks very much like a bitmap you might want to use the original bitmap. The file sizes are often smaller and better detailed. However if you wish to create a graphic that can be edited, animated or if you want to create a unique graphic the 'Trace Bitmap' command can be very useful.
