Standard
Toolbar
This toolbar gives you
quick access to the most often used menu commands. New, Open, Save,
and Publish are all on this toolbar. Since these commands all have keyboard
shortcuts, using the toolbar buttons for them is not always necessary. What the
toolbars are especially good for is performing commands for which there are no
shortcuts. The best examples of this are Preview in Browser, Insert
Table, Insert Picture from File, and Hyperlink.
Preview
in Browser:
Clicking this button will open up your default browser. This is mostly used for
previewing your page in Netscape, as the Preview tab pretty acurately portrays
how the page will look in IE.
Insert Table:
The picture of an HTML table is one of the most useful buttons on the Standard
toolbar. Pressing this button opens an expandable drop-down menu that lets you
define exactly how many rows and collumns you want your table to have. Hold down
the mouse when you press the button and drag it to exactly the table format that
you want. Release the button, and voila, that table is inserted where you cursor
is. You can than go into the table and cell properties to customize your table
even further, but we'll get into that later.
Insert Picture
from File:
One thing that is oddly difficult to do in FrontPage is insert a graphic. There
is no keyboard shortcut, and using the menus is a tedious, multi-step process.
As a result, clicking this button is the best way to insert an image.
Hyperlink:
This
is the hyperlink button. Select some text or an image, then press this button,
and you will pop up the 'Create Hyperlink' window.
