Slicing Images in Image Ready 3

Home > Build > Software > Photoshop

by Don Herion

Step 3
With the image sliced you can now assign a URL, a target, a text message, and an Alt tag to each individual slice. For the three buttons I added URLs.

Add URLs, targets and more with this window.

When you select each slice you can specify an image format and compression scheme for that slice. I used .gif for portions of the image using text and .jpg for the photographic part. Use the same .gif settings for .gif slices and .jpg compression settings for .jpg slices. If you don't some slices that share graphic info may not mesh properly later.

Optimize each slice separately. If you're using IE, you can place your cursor over each 'Slice Number' to see my format and compression settings.

Step 4
The final part of this process is simple. Go - File - Save Optimized as... Give the HTML file a name and click OK. Below is the final table and sliced images imported onto this page. The three buttons have URLs.
