There are many reasons why banner advertisements may not work.
Sometimes banners are completely ignored by the reader; sometimes
the banner may look good, but not have a good click through ratio.
Personally, I have found that text links work a lot better than
banners simply because they are unique and have never been seen

If you tell your visitors that "Product A" will improve their lives
and is worth their money, I have found that your subscribers most
likely will follow your advice, and purchase, If you give the product

Offer a Free Bonus to those who order affiliate products from your
web site. People like free gifts. Some major department stores give
away a free gift to customers who purchase $20 or more in goods.
You can easily apply this to your web site because it works! Offer
a free report or e-book when an affiliate product is purchased from
your site. I can guarantee your sales will go up using this simple
method.
Start your own newsletter!
A newsletter is probably the most powerful Internet marketing tool.
Simply because people 'opt in' to your list to receive free articles
and valuable tools. In every newsletter issue, offer a free article
that is in some way related to your product or affiliate program's
product. At the end of each article include a short plug to the
affiliate product.
Special Promotional Mailings!
Send your subscribers special deals, or tell them exclusively how
great a specific affiliate product is. In the promotional mailing,
let your subscribers know the affiliate product may help them since
it may be helping you. You would be surprised at how well this works.
Your subscribers like your advice. Just be sure not to abuse your
list by sending them too many exclusive offers.
