Free-For-All links pages (or FFA pages as the are commonly
called) are an excellent way to advertise your business free or inexpensively,
if you choose wisely. The problem is, most people do not understand
how FFA pages work and how to work them to receive the maximum benefit.
The traditional FFA page is geared towards promoting
the business or opportunity of the page owner, not your business or
opportunity. This is most commonly done by the mailing of a "confirmation"
email to let you know that your link ad has been placed and then tacking
on 4 or 5 pages of advertising to try to get you to buy their products/services.
Is this what you want when you are paying to advertise
your opportunity? To receive thousands of confirmations that you have
to delete? The other problem with most FFA pages, is that they allow
everybody to submit to their FFA sites using automated software.
Why Is This A Problem?
If you are paying for submission services, in most cases you are simply
paying to receive the aforementioned advertisements.
How Is That Possible?
FFA submitters post your ad to the cgi script for the page. The submitted
link ads that are in the database only show up when someone views
the page.
The Problem?
Thousands of persons are submitting their ad to these cgi databases
daily, but maybe only 50 to 100 people are viewing the page.
The Result?
Your ad is either never seen or seen only a few times, but the hundreds/thousands
of confirmation emails in your email "in" box sure look good don't
they? Makes you think that you really got a "good deal"...heck it
was only $19.95! And the submission company is laughing all the way
to the bank because they know the truth! Needless to say, this expose'
will not make me a popular guy!
The Solution?
Use only services that submit to their own database on a regulated
basis and that do not allow outside automated submissions. Your ad
can stay in the database for days instead of seconds. Also, be certain
to use a service that resubmits your ad periodically. A one-time ad
in any medium is a waste of both your time and your money. There are
plenty of quality services out there. You just need to ask the right
questions. Now that you have the answers, you will be better able
to select wisely.
