Creating
Your FFA Page
While there are options for remotely hosted
FFA pages, most of them can't be added to autosubmission sites or charge a monthly
fee for a "pro" FFA, with the features your FFA would need to be successful.
The
other option, which you should try for best results, is to run the FFA page off
one of your own Web sites. It doesn't need to be promoted or linked to from your
site. Simply create a new directory such as http://www.yoursite.com/ffa . Download
one of many free FFA scripts at http://www.cgi-resources.com
or at http://www.hotscripts.com
and set it up on your site. Be sure to customize the page as much as possible
so it doesn't look like you spent no time setting up your page; it will probably
be reviewed by the autosubmission sites before they add it to their directory.
You'll also want to find a script where the confirmation page
(the page shown after someone posts a link to your site) is small or one that
lets you customize this. Considering you may receive hundreds or thousands of
posts a day, if your confirmation page is too large, you could run into problems
with your transfer limit if you pay for a certain amount in your hosting. On my
own FFA pages, the confirmation page simply reads in plain text, "Thank you
for posting. Click Here to return," which is only a few bytes so I can receive
several hundred thousand posts a month without worrying about transfer.
