3 Geeks
Application
I was very impressed with the FindWhat application.
Adding, modifying and checking search terms is much easier and less
time consuming than any pay search engine I've found yet.
Listings are maintained by unique URL. Before you can
add keywords, you must first define your 'website.'
In the sample below we used our Web Graphics Tutorial.
Once you have defined the website, you add keywords.
You are given room for 5 terms but then can add additional terms in
the box below. This is wonderful if you wish to use numerous keywords.
Instead of filling out several forms or downloading and uploading
a file, you just type them in the box.

When you wish to add or maintain bids you must choose
the URL from the 'websites profile'.

From here you can compare your ranks using an easy to
follow chart and change bids accordingly.

The application is better than ever. I never had any
problems whatsoever, which I can't say for Kanoodle or Goto.
Customer Service
Since there were no problems with my bids or the application
process, I wasn't able to 'test' FindWhat's customer service. I did
have one request, which they answered promptly and with courtesy.
Tools
FindWhat offers a 'Keyword Center'. Here you can see
the Top 50 searches — #1 being sex. You can also enter any word
into a search form and find other variations of that word that people
are searching for. Unfortunately this tool does not show how many
searches were performed on a term during a given period. The term
is useful, but doesn't quite measure up to Goto's Search Term Suggestion
Tool.
Reports
In the 'Lobby' section (where you go when you first
login), there is a nice bar graph that shows how many clicks you've
had in a given month. There is a pull down menu where you can change
months. It's better than nothing, but not detailed enough for my tastes.
I want to know which keywords are performing. Since I change my bids
often, I would also like to see reports for the day or the week. This
way I can gauge what's working what isn't.
Competition
Oddly enough there is some stiff competition among bids.
There are 18 bids for 'web design', the highest being 26 cents. I
started at a penny but bumped it up to a dime after receiving little
traffic. W3Nation is currently ranked #9.
Traffic
Virtually none. This account was opened on the 27th
of November. According to my referral logs I have received 4 referrals
total from FindWhat. One of these was me testing it after I first
signed up. 3 referrals in 2 weeks is horrible. My ranking for 'web
design' was much lower than it was for Kanoodle, which could contribute
to the drop, but I also had literally 5 times the keywords. Many of
these same keywords bring hundreds of referrals a week on other engines.
To get much traffic you probably need a very popular search term (pokemon,
mp3, sex).
Everything looks great save for the traffic. My suggestion:
Unless you have a Pokemon site, wait for FindWhat to grow a little
and then throw your $25 into the pile. Hopefully Linkshare and their
ad campaign will drive more traffic their way.
