Don't Stop at the Order Form

Does your sales page stop when your visitors click
on the link to your order form? What your customers see when they follow that
link is just as important as what they just read in your sales letter. What they
get after the order form is processed is a very valuable resource. What they read
days after the sale has closed can be an excellent opportunity for repeat business.
Don't get so blinded by the sale that you stop marketing when they get to your
order page.
Too many people focus all their time and energy into
the advertisement and the sales page that they miss out on a lot of opportunities
to build a relationship with their customer. Your goal should not only be to close
the sale but to make them feel comfortable with your business.
What does your order page say? Does it reiterate your guarantee? If it is a secure
order form do you let them know that their information will be secure? Do you
post any kind of privacy clause telling them that their information will never
be sold or given to anyone else? Is the form easy to fill out or do they need
to guess what information you want? Is there an area that they can use to give
you feedback or ask a question?
Those are the questions you need
to ask yourself when you setup your order forms. Make them comfortable with what
they are about to do. You want there repeat business so do whatever you can to
make there first experience with you a good experience. Use the form to generate
leads. At the bottom of all of your forms, ask them if they want to subscribe
to your e-zine. A simple mouse click and it's done. As them if they would like
more information on one of your other products. It's an important tool so use
it.
After the order form is processed the next thing your customers
are going to see is your success page. Use this page to thank your customer and
let them know what is going to happen next. Tell them how long it is going to
take you to process the request and give them another opportunity to subscribe
to your e-zine or tell them about one of your other services. This page is once
again a great place to make them feel comfortable with you and your business.
Use the success page to cross promote with other business or
e-zines. This would be similar to an ad trade but instead of trading e-zine classified
ads, you are posting the ad on you are thank you page.
Your next
step should be the follow up. Send them an e-mail in a day or two and make sure
they are not having any problems with there purchase. Thank them for buying from
you and tell them to stop back anytime. Let them know that they can contact you
if they have any questions or problems. If they do ask you any questions, answer
them quickly and thoroughly. Every positive contact you have with them is step
in the right direction. Even if they never buy from you again, treat them right
and you are sure to get some good referrals.
The point here is
to not stop with the sales letter. Marketing is more than just closing that sale.
